Last year was pretty good to us as far as RPGs go. Among multiple pedigree releases in the genre, we saw the emergence of Capcoms new Monster Hunter Dark Souls lovechild, Dragons Dogma. And what a lovechild it was! Upon venturing into the expansive and gorgeous (albeit slightly unoriginal) land of Gransys, players were met with an astonishing mixture of visceral combat, unforgiving difficulty and brilliant open ended exploration. Player-created party members, combo based swordplay and an intricate game world came together with these to produce a sharp, but extremely rewarding difficulty curve that drove players to constantly be on edge during exploration.

Nintendo launches buy-three-get-one-free 3DS game promotion in Europe

Promotion includes Luigi's Mansion 2, Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D.

Nintendo of Europe has launched a promotion offering customers a free Nintendo 3DS game if they register three eligible titles from a list of eight.

The kicks off on April 23, and requires users to register any three eligible games on Club Nintendo before June 30. If three are registered, eligible customers will be able to grab an eShop code for any of the other games on the list.

The eight eligible games:

- Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (3DS)
- Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate
- Luigi's Mansion 2
- Fire Emblem: Awakening
- Pok&eĂłmon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity
- Animal Crossing: New Leaf
- Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins
- Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

Games registered on Club Nintendo before the promotion officially begins on April 23 will still count towards the total.

To be eligible for the So Many Games! promotion, customers have to be at least 16 and live in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, or Russia.

The latest 3DS game, , and helped boost sales of the handheld hardware.
